The Atholl is a beautiful, privately owned hotel in Aberdeen’s West End. With a long standing reputation for an excellent and friendly service, they wanted to upgrade their website in order to reflect the services they provide their customers, online.
The hotel had been recently refurbished and they wanted a new website that would modernise their image whilst, retaining their historical charms and traditional values. They also required an online booking system which could be used with ease across multiple platforms e.g. laptops, tablets and smartphones.
The first step of any web project for us is a fact finding meeting. Our account managers attended a meeting with the owners at the hotel and learned about the refurbishment, their customer base and aspirations.
After discussing the website objectives that they wanted to address, we began planning the new site. To address the aims expressed, our creative team suggested that the new site would have to make good use of new photography, the site would need to be made responsive in design and the contents would have to be narrowed down in order to make it more efficient. All photography on the site was upgraded to a professional standard to highlight the hotels services.
The responsive site provided users with an optimised viewing of the site no matter what their device and also makes it easier for the users to book online across multiple platforms. We completely rewrote the content for the site, simplifying it to meet their customer’s needs. The content was reordered into logical sections providing the user with easy and clear navigation. Our developers have also put in place a simple-to-use content management system that will allow the hotel to update the site regularly.
