Social & Community

Investing in and contributing to the local community is important to AVC. We are involved in a number of projects and initiatives that we think will have particular benefits to people living within the local area.

AVC’s charity of the year for 2007/08 is Children 1st. A Scottish charity, with a base in Aberdeen, Children 1st work to ensure that every child in Scotland has a safe and secure childhood, by supporting families under stress, protecting children from harm and neglect, and supporting children while they recover from abuse.

As sponsor of the Banks of Dee Under 15’s football team, AVC believes that investing in and encouraging young people to take part in sport and to be active is vital.

In May 2008, AVC supported local performing arts group Aberdeen Lyrical Opera, by being the Media Sponsor of their production of the ‘Witches of Eastwick’. AVC were delighted to be involved in the production and provided AV equipment, animated graphics and press and broadcast advertising.

AVC partnered with Robert Gordon University this year to support Corporate Communication and Media students in their Fashion Show module. This required the students to fully plan and implement a show from scratch, using local companies as sponsors - their aim being to raise funds for local charity CLAN. AVC utilised the expert knowlege of its staff and offered mentoring support to students in areas such as audivisual support, public relations and marketing. AVC also sponsored the AV equipment required on the night, which was operated by our highly trained AV technicians. The event was very successful, raising nearly £7000 for CLAN.
