Employees of Altens based integrated communications agency AVC Media Enterprises, completed a tandem sykydive at Glenrothes, raising in excess of £5,000 for Cornerstone - a leading Scottish charity and provider of care and support services for adults, children and young people with disabilities and other special needs.
Emma Grosvenor, TactX Communications Assistant; Jamie Baikie, Production Manager; Lynsey Shepherd, PR Account Manager; and Sarah Bremner, Senior Account Manager and jump organiser, decided to take the leap and show their support for the charity by taking part in the Cornerstone 30:30 Challenge. The challenge was a unique initiative introduced by the charity to celebrate its 30th birthday and encourage the community to help make a positive difference in a fun and engaging way by taking part in one of 30 themed fundraising ideas.
Sarah Bremner says, “AVC has always been a great supporter of Cornerstones and has worked closely with the charity over the years by providing a full host of marketing solutions such as PR, Web Support, Graphic Design and Market Research. We were all aware of the good work that the charity does and thought the 30:30 challenge was a fun way for us to make our contribution and enable the people that Cornerstone supports to enjoy a valued life. We put a lot of thought into our challenge and thought, what’s the most exciting thing we can do as a collective? We came up with a skydive!”
Sarah continues, “Unfortunately, bad weather dampened our enthusiasm a little bit and after a few unsuccessful trips to Glenrothes we thought we would never actually complete the jump. It was eighth time lucky and we were delighted to finally get our chance. The team at Glenrothes were brilliant. The dive was amazing and we were delighted to raise so much money for such a good cause.”
Jodie Dawson, Cornerstone's Communications Manager, commented, "We are delighted that AVC is taking part in our 30:30 Challenge. The company have supported our charitable work for a number of years and their efforts will help us enable the people we support to enjoy a valued life in the community. I would like to thank the team on behalf of everyone at Cornerstone."
