Summary: During the 2006 World Cup, the AVC team provided an extensive range of services both on location and at AVC Headquarters, to support the Technical Study Group, FIFA Referees and the FIFA Medical team.

Background

The Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) is an association governed by Swiss law founded in 1904 and based in Zurich. It has 208 member associations and its goal, enshrined in its Statutes, is the constant improvement of football.

Summary

AVC has provided filming and technical support for most tournaments hosted by UEFA and FIFA over the last 20 years. During the 2006 World Cup, the AVC team provided an extensive range of services both on location and at AVC Headquarters, to support the Technical Study Group, FIFA Referees and the FIFA Medical team.

On location in Germany a 3 man technical team consisting of 2 technicians and 1 senior manager spent the 5 week tournament period travelling around Germany, primarily in support of the Technical Study Group.  In an official capacity as FIFA appointed technicians, AVC provided additional support to the Referees, the Medical Team, Marketing and Communications and, on occasion, the FIFA President.

At HQ in Aberdeen a further 4 personnel co-ordinated the provision of the online web incidents log which provided the Technical Study Group, Referee Management and Medical Analysers with logged highlights online within 2 hours of each match, allowing them to undertake their analysis reports immediately and accurately.

Post tournament, AVC produce a complete package of educational and promotional material as an official FIFA Technical package for distribution to Confederations and National Associations throughout the world.
