Background

Johnstons of Elgin has been making knitwear, clothing and accessories for over two centuries. From their mill in Elgin they produce woven accessories and home wares, while their knitwear is carefully crafted at their factory in Hawick, Roxburghshire.

AVC was commissioned to provide the audiovisual expertise for Johnstons prestigious annual fashion show in December, providing the creative planning, direction and support. The client required a team to take control of all the technical aspects surrounding the event, enhancing the full presentation experience through a combination of staging, vision, sound, lighting and room décor.

Summary

The team at AVC worked closely with Johnstons to ensure all objectives and requirements were met and exceeded where possible. AVC developed an audiovisual specification tailored to the event type, venue, audience and power capabilities, while ensuring the health and safety of guests and staff was always at the forefront of planning.

The audiovisual and set elements included:

  • Large catwalk with carpet, steps and handrail.
  • Screens for DVD/video, PowerPoint and camera mix relay.
  • A PA system for speeches and choreographed music.
  • A combination of stagewash, key lighting and effects lighting.
  • Power distribution for lighting, audio, vision and stage power.

AVC’s team of experienced technicians ensured that all equipment was installed and set-up as necessary on the day of the event and operated seamlessly on the night of the show.

The event was a great success and AVC is delighted to continue to work with Johnstons of Elgin on additional projects.
