RGU Fashion Show Raises £13,000

A group of 60 innovative students from Robert Gordon University hosted a glamorous fundraising fashion show for Aberdeen cancer support charity CLAN, on Friday 31 May .

For the third consecutive year, AVC has been working alongside third year undergraduate communication and media students from Aberdeen Business School to fully plan and implement a professional fashion show in aid of ClAN. The students held the Hollywood themed show at the University Campus at Garthdee. The event transformed the Business School surroundings into the Hollywood Hills for the night and raised a staggering £13,000 specifically for Clans’ ‘1, 2, 3’ campaign, raising funds to build a new CLAN House and Haven for families affected by cancer.

This is the third year that students from Robert Gordon University have taken on the challenge to raise a substantial amount for the charity. In 2009 the Fashion show raised £10,000. This injection of Hollywood style is going to glam-up the University’s business school and give guests a taste of the VIP treatment.

AVC has worked alongside the students, as well as other partners, to offer support and advice throughout the planning process and sponsored the audiovisual provision on the night. AVC's audiovisual technicians have worked predominantly with the Multi Media and Staging team of students, offering expertise and on-hands training, as well as planning the full set design and av requirements based on the initial visions from the students. The Hollywood theme is key to the overall effect and AVC ensured that the night screamed tinsel town!
