Media Partner of The Reading Bus, AVC Media Enterprises, is delighted to announce the official launch of the Apardion, A Leopard’s Quest iPhone app, which will be celebrated with a St Andrews Day event later in the month.
Apardion, A Leopard’s Quest, is the fifth publication from The Reading Bus which tells the story of a gentle leopard spirit from the Northern Lights. In his quest to discover if Aberdeen should be his place of birth, Apardion visits 14 heritage landmarks. Local schools have been working together to produce a hub of information on each site, creating pictures, animations, films and podcasts for other children to share and learn from.
The iPhone application accompanies the novel and upcoming website to enhance the user experience and assist in educating local children and their families about Aberdeen and its rich history. The app contains an interactive map, colourful characters and a wealth of information on Apardion’s journey - all working to encourage tourism to the Granite City, as well as educating the younger generation via interactive and new media platforms.
The St Andrew’s Day themed entertainment will include a Scottish country dancing display, live recitals from our special guest piper as well as an art workshop from Apardion illustrator, Julie Lancome. Representatives from the local schools will also give a short presentation to show off some of the work they have completed as part of the initiative.
Confirmed guests include local school children, teachers, corporate sponsors and the creators of the novel, iPhone application and website.
The event will take place at the AVC Business Centre in Aberdeen on St Andrew’s Day - Wednesday, November 30, 2011. From 18:00 - 19:30. Limited spaces are available. To register your interest, please email ssummers@avcmedia.com.
