Project: ConocoPhillips - Britannia Satellites
Summary:AVC Media had to launch this massive construction project by telling a short upbeat story using 3D animation. We wanted to create maximum impact and our design followed in the style of a film trailer.
The 4 minute film used epic music and sound effects produced especially in the US. The 3D models were created from CAD drawings and with the addition of textures, lighting, sea, sky we successfully captured the essence of the project.
Regular progress update videos were produced consisting of dramatic 3D animation and footage filmed offshore, around the UK and Europe from all key phases of the development; planning, design, subsurface, drilling, fabrication, construction and installation combined with interviews from the projects key personnel, this was a fascinating and educational insight into how one global energy company managed such a large project and continues to ensure the supply of the UK’s energy demands.
AVC’s design and production skills covered all phases of the project which included 8 programmes, over 1,200 copies and town hall events over a period of 3 years. AVC carried out all production work, including project management, scriptwriting, filming, editing, 3D motion graphics, graphic design and duplication. This was further supported at the main launch and follow up town hall events with the provision of lighting, staging and PA systems.
ConocoPhillips launched an ambitious Five Phase three year plan to build and link a new platform to their Britannia in the North Sea. AVC was commissioned to document the complete project through each phase until the new facility was installed and fully commissioned.
"Just wanted to send you a wee note to say congratulations and thanks to you and all the team at AVC for a brilliant video and a great launch event. The feedback that both Peter and I were receiving last night was amazing. I never dared hope for others to feel as we did about the video, but words and phrases such as "inspirational", "fired-up", "proud to be part of it" were being bandied around."
Ruth Mitchell, ConocoPhillips BritSats Project
"I just wanted to add my thanks for the smashing, inspirational, video that was produced by AVC for our project. Everyone I spoke to was enthused by what they had seen. For the rest of the evening I had a smile on my face that just wouldn't go!"
Peter Wingate, BritSats Project Manager
