Calor Village of the Year Awards

Project: Calor Village of the Year Awards
Summary: In 2008, AVC was commissioned to re-style the Scottish awards..

Background

Calor Gas is the market leader in the supply of LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas), used in a variety of areas such as cooking, heating, materials handling, Alfresco living, automotive fuels and ground care.  The company organises and sponsors the Calor Village of the Year® award which was originally initiated to raise the awareness and profile of the Calor brand in rural communities, a sector which is prime target market for Calor due to these areas’ lack of mains gas connection.

Summary

In 2008, AVC was commissioned to re-style the Scottish awards.

The brief required a new UK-wide brand image for the awards and a robust online judging system to simplify and improve the awards entry and judging process. The AVC team combined expertise in PR, marketing, digital and design to create an innovative brand, separate to the main Calor Gas brand, while still continuing its association. A new online system was also developed to improve communication, efficiency and administration.

AVC has continually secured wide ranging media coverage for the awards, including a high percentage of rural publications, local radio stations, national daily newspapers and a dedicated television documentary programme.  As a result of this, Calor Gas now enjoys a significantly higher profile in this key target market throughout Scotland and the UK as well as stronger relationships in these communities.
