Background

Simmons & Company International is the oldest independent investment bank specialising in the energy industry. In order to improve personnel’s delivery techniques and to ensure Simmons &Company International maintained its edge over their competitors, AVC was commissioned to develop and deliver a series of tailor-made presentation workshops.

Summary

AVC’s Communication Trainer Kirstin Gove worked with a wide range of partners and professionals from Simmons to deliver a bespoke training package to meet the individual needs of her clients.

Many of the staff at Simmons had already made presentations at various levels. However, they needed to come up to an even higher skill level given the challenging nature of their jobs. Simmons staff who took part in training ranged from Associate to Managing Director level.

Due to the nature of the employee’s roles, the sessions had to be short, sharp and focused. Kirstin took the personnel through both full and half-day coaching sessions, as well as one-to-one sessions for their Senior Management. The Training courses were focussed primarily on standing presentations using the company’s slides, with guidance also given for seated presentations.

During the group sessions, peer feedback resulted in a great environment of shared experience. The client was delighted to demonstrate on-the-spot improvement, due in part to the extensive opportunity for individual practice, and were then able to leave with personal improvement objectives.

All the delegates were encouraged to keep in contact with Kirstin after taking part in the course to update her on their progress, improvement and future presentations.
