08 Registrations Set New Record, Up 8% for Aberdeen Motor Group

Friday, February 29th, 2008

The Aberdeen-based John Clark Motor Group has set a record with the number of vehicles due to be delivered for the new March registrations, which are released tomorrow (Saturday, March 1).

Orders for the month are already 8% up on the record figure for March 2007. A total of around 1,200 cars due to be delivered during the month, with about a third of these due to be handed over to new owners this weekend, at the group’s 12 dealerships from Edinburgh to Aberdeen.

The March sales success follows on from record sales for John Clark Motor Group in 2007. Sales of new and used cars set a new record, up 12.5% on 2006.

Commenting on the continuing success, John Downie, Marketing Director of the John Clark Motor Group, said:

“These record results reflect a solid and confident performance across the group and across our brands.

“The fact that the group has consistently achieved record sales, underlines the benefits of our strategy of selecting the right brands to work with on a long-term basis. I think it also reflects buyers’ recognition of the value of the good customer relationship delivered by the dedicated staff.”

The John Clark Motor Group recently recognised the commitment of 26 long-serving employees who had amassed 600 years of service between them. The group has also invested heavily in its dealership network, with the new flagship Dundee Audi dealership and the Specialist Cars Seat dealership in Aberdeen both opening last year, representing a combined investment of £2.25 million.

With a projected turnover of £280 million and a workforce of more than 600, the John Clark Motor Group is the fourth largest motor trade group in Scotland and within the top 30 in the UK.

It operates the BMW and Mini dealerships in Aberdeen and Dundee. It also has all five mainstream Volkswagen Group brands – Audi, SEAT, Skoda and Volkswagen with dealerships in Aberdeen, Dundee and Kirkcaldy. In Edinburgh the group has Pentland Land Rover and the Edinburgh Van Centre dealership for Volkswagen light commercial vehicles.

Scotoil Services to receive Grampian Police Diced Cap Charitable Trust fellowship for “outstanding support”

Wednesday, February 20th, 2008

Scotoil Services, the Aberdeen-based oil industry environmental services company, is to be presented with a Diced Cap Fellowship at the charitable trust’s Good Samaritan Awards 2008 on Thursday (February 21). The award ceremony starts at 7pm in the Marriott Hotel, Dyce, Aberdeen.

The Diced Cap Fellowship award will be presented to Graham and Ross Davidson, sons of the late Ian Davidson, former managing director of Scotoil. The presentation will take place on the eve of the fifth anniversary of his death.

Commenting on the award, Gordon McLellan, Managing Director of Scotoil Services Ltd, said:

“Since Ian Davidson brought Scotoil into local ownership in 1995, the company has always recognised its corporate social responsibility by providing support for community initiatives.

“One of the charities the company has supported through the years is the Diced Cap Charitable Trust. Indeed, Ian Davidson provided the inspiration and encouragement for a number of its projects.

“To receive the Diced Cap Fellowship is a tremendous honour for Scotoil. It is also a very fitting recognition of Ian Davidson’s legacy of support which we have carried forward in his name.”

Ian Davidson collapsed and died on February 22, 2003 while pursuing his passion for cycling on a Saturday morning run with friends. He was widely recognised and respected as one of Aberdeen’s brightest entrepreneurs of the time, combining his business drive with a commitment to put something back into the community.

In addition to supporting the Diced Cap Charitable Trust, Scotoil has long supported other local initiatives like Give Kids a Chance, which will also be receiving a Diced Cap Good Samaritan Award 2008.
